Reading Comic Books With Evince

I have just uploaded some new packages to my repository and now we can enjoy reading comic books with our 770! Just add the entries as described in my previous post. If you already have installed Evince, refresh the package list and click on the "Check for updates" button in the application manager main screen.

you are insane, if you keep up that speed you will blow up our space-time continuum :-)

btw, do you have the sources of your ports somewhere for download, i'd like to learn about porting.

Hi,

All library and program sources are available for download. If you're running maemo inside scratchbox environment, add the following two lines to /etc/apt/sources.list file:

deb http://bgran.net/etrunko/apt mistral user
deb-src http://bgran.net/etrunko/apt mistral user

Then run apt-get update, and finally apt-get source "package_name" (e.g., evince or gnumeric or xournal, etc.) .

Best Regards, Etrunko

Nice work indeed, both comicbook and djvu-reader - one minor problem found though:

If the comicbook/djvu-package is /media/mmc1 (memorycard), it must be at the root directory of the card. I tried some packages located in subdirectories (/media/mmc1/comics) and opening those packages killed evince immediately.

I tried some cbr/cbz files (from the root of the MMC card) and Evince just exits. What is supported?

Thanks!

I've managed to read succesfully both, cbr and cbz-files. I had to install unzip package and because evince gave me error of missing zipinfo, I made symlink named zipinfo pointing to unzip-binary and now evince works like charm.

thanks for the help with the unzip package, I do wish it could handle 50+ MB .cbr files but I guess that's a limitation of the tablet. Your work is greatly appreciated.

Evince is installed on my N800 and loads pdfs fine. It won't load ant comics files. Any suggestions?

Hey, I have N800 too, it doesn't work :(
please make evince work with N800...
it's been tough using the default pdf viewer because it can't access the pdf bookmarks...
