LeafPad - A Simple Text Editor

I decided to follow the competence test Eero proposed in maemo-developers list, and here is the final result:

Want to try it? Add the following to your application entry catalog:

Web Address: http://www.maemo.org.br/platform/apt
Distribution: mistral
Components: user

Now I want to know if I passed the test :).

Thanks for a text editor which saves in an actual cross-platform format for OS2006!

Also for illuminating great info on making ports.

Good job.

Any chance you could post the hildonized source code and debian package config files. I want to add a recent files option to the menu.

Hi Gary,

All sources are available in the same repository. Just add the following entries to your /etc/apt/sources.list in scratchbox:

deb http://www.maemo.org.br/platform/apt mistral user
deb-src http://www.maemo.org.br/platform/apt mistral user

And then type:

$ apt-get update
$ apt-get source leafpad

Best Regards, Etrunko

Very nice work, Eduardo. My only complaint is that after installing the latest Maemo package, MIME is adjusted so that double clicking a .txt file starts leafpad. The problem is that leafpad starts empty, not showing the .txt file which the user double clicks.

I've tried to find the root of this problem in the debian package itself, but could not understand where the MIME logic exists.

Regarding the MIME problem, it seems that osso_mime_set_cb(3) is probably missing. This causes libosso to open leafpad(1) without passing in context, such as the file name.

Does just what I need in a text editor on the n770! Any way to make it display full screen?

Howdy

Thanks for the best Text Editor available on Maemo. I have a few feature requests:

* Auto-save feature
* Save confirmation popup
* Bluetooth/E-mail Send capability
