Evince 0.5.0 is out...

... and so is the package for Nokia 770 :). Download it here. The package was built with pixbuf support. It means that now you can also see image files (png, jpg, etc) using Evince.

See the Evince Release Notes.

The patch with the necessary modifications to make evince run in maemo platform can be found at gnome bugzilla.

Enjoy!

Hi! Thanks for this! Any chance of posting the required dependency libraries as it won't run just using your installer.

Hi,

The dependency package is libgnomeprintui, and it can be found at http://bgran.net/etrunko/libgnomeprintui

Best Regards, Etrunko.

Even after installing the libgnomeprintui package, installation of evince fails on my device.

Great software. It's much better than the installed one from Nokia.
Still I have one suggestion, please swap the position of the zoom buttons, "smaller" on the left and "bigger" on the right.

Works great! Thanks!
Cheers...

Hi all,

Unfortunately, I have not built Evince package with support to comics (cbr/cbz) files. But as soon as I have some time to pack it again I will try to include this feature.

Best Regards, Etrunko.

gracias por el software :) please add pop-up menu on stylus hold, pan on stylus drag, and cbr/cbz support. this is a great port!!

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately, to support CBR/CBZ files we must have unzip and unrar installed in the system.

As we do not have these two applications ported (yet), it will not be possible to support the comics format.

Aditional information about these file types can be found at

Hi,

I will try to make working packages for unzip and unrar, and then i will release a new version of Evince with support to comics files.

Hi Etrunko!

your reader is great, especially when compared to N770's shipped PDF reader. But, as a frequent e-book reader, I would be delighted if you would code some bookmark property that would enable us to continue where we have left (i.e., the page number, the orientation, zoom level, continous/single - full screen/presentation mode).

Also, if I am not asking too much, it would be great if the -/+ buttons above the N770 also had some other property like PgUp/PgDown..

Anyway, evince is great and thank you again! Please do "Keep up the good work"! 8)

Hi Leucipo,

In this first moment it is not supporting djvu, only PDF and image files.

Hi,

Does Evince allow for selecting text for copying / pasting into other apps?

Best Regards, Denis

Hi Denis,

Unfortunately this option was replaced in favor of navigation using the stylus. There is already a bug filled in GNOME bugzilla regarding this issue but no solution yet.
